Frightening encounter experienced on family property outside Naples
Three people spending the night in a trailer heard distant howling that grew closer and seemed to come from more than one direction, and they called back. Small stones were thrown toward them, and they heard stomping, grunting, knocking, movement in brush close by, and trees breaking. They retreated into a bedroom where screaming, walking, and contact with the outside of the trailer continued for about an hour while one of them looked through window blinds and was left frightened.

The witness and a relative were sleeping in a tent at their hunting camp when loud screams woke the witness. After a long silent interval, something on two feet circled the tent, cast a tall shadow and scratched the fabric, then crossed a gravel road into the woods followed by repeated stick-struck sounds. The relative woke briefly and also heard part of the screaming. No tracks were found the next morning.

The witness was alone in a remote primitive cabin just after dark on a mid-October evening when she heard repeated loud knocking sounds for 15-20 minutes and then gravel hitting the tin roof. She saw nothing outside and stayed inside with a gun until her husband returned. Her husband later fired guns into the woods and found a fired bullet standing upright in the outdoor shower the next morning.

On the first night outside the house he reported paired knocking sounds, stones hitting the roof, and a brief glimpse of gray movement. On the second night he heard more knocks and howling, then was awakened by loud pounding on the roof and walls that the host also heard.

The witness awoke in his tent around 4:50am to a loud knock like wood hitting a tree trunk, followed by very heavy bipedal footsteps moving uphill through a ravine and across the campground. He unzipped his tent window as a neighboring camper emerged to quiet her dogs, after which the footsteps stopped.

While setting up camp and hiking he felt a ground thump, heard repeated low growls and tree-knocking that seemed to mimic his own thumps, and found multiple footprints including a well-defined deep print. After the other campers left and the sounds resumed behind his site in the early evening, he left the area frightened.

The activity continued over several days with more distant knocks that seemed to approach, another large rock landing near the witness, and an ice chest found opened.

A large black figure stood up about 15 feet away on a steep downhill slope, showed agitated movements and cheek puffing, muttered and then screamed before leaving over a stump downhill. Shortly after sunset he heard repeated sets of three loud strikes on trees from the forest to the south that moved between trees for about an hour. About 30 minutes after the strikes ended, a pine cone came from the direction of the forest through the campsite. He left the area the next morning.

A group of four on dirt bikes and quads stopped at night to fix a broken chain. They heard repeated loud moans, then a series of knocks like on a tree, then something running fast through dense woods around them. Frightened, they abandoned one bike and fled, finding the bike moved off the trail when they returned the next day.

After others went to the water and noticed many crayfish, the group heard thumps by the fire, found the fire logs disturbed and later the tent support bent, then left the camp that night and did not return.
