Backpackers hear growls, knocking and observe two large, hairy bipeds at Surprise Lake
The witness and a companion were camped at Surprise Lake at dusk when they heard patterned knocks and rock-on-tree sounds. After the witness threw a rock against a tree and heard a similar sound returned, they saw a large brownish-red animal squatted and swaying behind a tree upslope. They attempted blurry photos while knocks were heard from behind the camp and from the animal's direction before leaving at first light.

The witness was bow-hunting elk and reported hearing knocks timed to his steps near a clearing in the afternoon. He then watched through binoculars as a large hair-covered figure struck a log against a dead tree. They heard persistent huffing and a growl, experienced silence and a sense of being watched, and reported a dark shape blocking a camper window. When leaving they later found muddy primate-like handprints high on the camper and a trailer lock twisted and broken.
Rockhound startled to find he's being observed
The witness was looking for rocks in a forested area in the early morning and returned to the parked car to find the windshield wipers flipped outward. The witness then noticed a dark crouched mass at the tree line first taken for a bear. After getting into the car and slamming the door, the witness saw the figure stand about 7-8 feet tall and run away over a rock mound, then drove away.

The witness and a companion were alone at the witness's parents' house at night when they saw a head looking in through the front door. They retreated to a bedroom without curtains where they heard breathing and scratching and saw a hairy hand against the window screen. The companion fired two shots that missed, and the figure ran away. A sheriff who responded found bullet holes but no blood or footprints.

While camping and sleeping in a camper trailer with family and companions, the young witness awoke at night to loud heavy breathing outside her window and indistinct chatter-like sounds moving along the window. She pulled back the curtain and saw a dark-skinned partial face with brown eyes inches away staring in. The sounds stopped shortly after, and the next morning the adults found apples and potatoes missing from the back of the truck.
