Two scouts report close sighting of young sasquatch; biologist stumped

Two scouts exploring the shore of a high mountain lake during a backpacking trip heard growls and then saw a small brown biped at very close range. The animal stepped from behind a tree, vocalized, and walked away upright swinging its arms. The pair ran back to camp and reported seeing something freaky to adult leaders within minutes.
