Nighttime motorist sighting 25 miles NW of Spokane
The driver was driving south at night with three child passengers after a football game when a large dark figure was noticed in tall grass in a roadside ditch. The driver reports it was an ape-like, black-haired being crouched in the ditch that stared at the vehicle and stepped back on two legs as they passed. After passing, the driver turned around for another look but the figure was gone, which the child passengers also observed.

From about 200 feet away they heard growl-whoop-scream vocalizations and wood-on-wood thumps, followed later by pea gravel striking the truck. During a daytime walk in a dry creek bed, the witness and a companion found two large human-like footprints. That evening at dusk from near their parked vehicle, they made howl calls and tree knocks and heard two howl responses from different directions.

The witness family drove at night to check wildfire damage and stopped to inspect smoldering spots. After hearing grunts and clicking mouth sounds, headlights revealed three hair-covered figures of different sizes standing near burnt trees. The largest figure gestured with its arm and vocalized loudly, then stepped toward the witness as the group retreated to the car and left. The encounter reportedly lasted about ten minutes.

While camping on a hunting trip with two companions, the witness heard a very loud bang resembling wood striking wood from about 50-60 yards away across a creek. After about five minutes the same loud sound recurred. The group armed themselves with spotlights and guns, stayed up late, and slept ready thereafter, but heard nothing further and found no tracks the next morning.

At about 2 a.m. she was awakened by four sets of four slow wood knocks coming from four different directions at varying distances, spaced about a minute apart. Two hunters walking on an old logging road just before dark heard a very loud breathy yell and a stick-like strike from dense brush about 50 feet away. Over about an hour they heard dozens of repeated yells, each followed by one or two knocks, and saw no other people in the area. They returned to their hunting spots with rifles loaded and later thought the sounds matched yelling and wood knocking shown on a Bigfoot television program.

In late June or early July 1981, the witness was sleeping on the floor of a friend's home when awakened by an unusual humming and grumbling sound. She saw the outline of a large broad-shouldered figure with a muscular arm and hand cupped to look through a high upper window, which she estimated would require at least seven feet of height. The figure looked in for about a minute, then walked around the house into the woods as the humming resumed. A search the next morning found no tracks in the hard-packed dirt.
