Tree break in Tennessee

The witness was with a large expedition group staying at a remote rented cabin. While hiking a fire road, his small group heard an explosion-like tree break overhead followed by sounds of material sliding down the slope and fine soil drifting through the air. Later the group was told red eye shine had followed them, and all sixteen watched many low peepers from behind trees for about twenty minutes; the next day companions found a large footprint cast with dermal detail, a partial print and bark tear, and dozens of small prints below the road.
