The witness joined a fellow researcher in a remote laurel-choked valley and found tracks of four sizes and a handprint in mud near a torn-up spring area. On the walk out they were flanked in the brush, had objects tossed, heard knocks, rock clacks and growls, and smelled an acidic odor. Something rushed them from behind, the witness saw an angry dark face over the other man's shoulder, and they retreated a mile out after apologizing.
