Howl near South Lake Tahoe, California
Account
On the first night of a shorter tent-camping trip during opening weekend, the witness and his father were awakened around 2-3 a.m. by an extremely loud vocalization from a nearby hill. It was described as between a howl and a dog bark, unlike any known local animal, and neighboring campers also turned on flashlights. The sound continued for many minutes and left the listeners intrigued and drawn toward it rather than frightened.
