The witness and spouse were hiking above Emerald Bay toward Granite Lake when they heard an unidentified whistling from cover nearby. The sound source seemed to follow them for some distance, keeping pace while moving silently through rugged boulder and wooded terrain. Unable to identify the whistler, they became concerned and left, thinking it might have been a cougar.
