Structure or nest in Pennsylvania (2000)
Account
While hiking in a state park at the head of a ridge after being asked to watch for stacked trees, the guest found symmetrical limb piles, twisted saplings, a woven barricade across a trail, snapped trees and two lean-to-like shelters. He crawled inside the larger stick shelter, then felt dread, noticed sudden silence, and began itching severely, suspecting mites from recent animal use. He also found a scraped hollow under a fallen log with claw-like gouges and winter-active larvae, and later found most structures knocked down, with a ranger saying no camping was allowed.
