The witness approached what looked like a black bear digging in a creek bank. It stopped, sniffed the air, stood on two legs, turned toward him, then leaped a great distance and ran east. Friends later found shredded cedar bark with hair and snapped live branches high off the ground, and officials reportedly said the hair tested as unidentified canine.
