Young pole vaulter heard vocalizations while he practiced
Account
The witness was pole vaulting in the yard at the family farm on an August evening when a very loud, long vocalization came from the wooded area near a creek about 1/8 mile to the east. The sound started low, rose to a scream, then fell to a howling yell and lasted many seconds, repeating four times while the witness stood at the end of the runway. After the fourth vocalization the witness dropped the pole and ran into the house, later noting a younger brother who was outside had heard the same sounds.
