Wood "chops" and whooping heard in early morning

The witness was camped overnight with one other person when a repetitive sound like chopping firewood was heard from about 50 yards away for about 35 minutes around 1:30 am. The pair searched for other hunters afterward but found no one. The report states there was no one else within 10 miles.
