Vocalization near Campbell River, British Columbia
Account
A group on a yacht anchored in a small inlet. After a vocal exchange the first night and finding broken shells, they watched at night with thermal imagers. They recorded a large heat signature standing, squatting and harvesting shellfish on the beach. Next morning only tiny shellfish remained, and the following night a companion put ashore for comparison was approached within feet by a growling individual and quickly picked up.
