While elk hunting at dusk with a companion, the pair felt watched and then heard a prolonged loud scream from behind trees, along with banging on a tree and breaking branches. They hid behind boulders with rifles to wait for the source to emerge, but nothing appeared, so they returned to their truck about half a mile away.
