The witness was at home at night when called outside by a relative to listen to a distant low moaning howl lasting several minutes while many dogs barked. The witness was sitting outside on a warm late evening visiting with his father when he heard steady bipedal-sounding footsteps descending the steep wooded hill behind the house. The sounds grew closer to the treeline, stopped and shuffled briefly, then returned up the hill until out of earshot. The witness saw no light and heard no voice, and his father heard nothing.

As teenagers, the witness and her boyfriend parked in a dirt cul-de-sac in a wooded park to spend time together. They heard heavy footsteps, snapping twigs and rustling circling them in the dark but could see nothing. When they drove away, the witness looked back and saw a tall, broad, long-armed silhouette step into the light under a street lamp, prompting them to flee. She later heard that a woman's mutilated body was found in the park, after which the park was placed under a nighttime curfew.

The guest's teenage mother and aunt were sitting outside a general store when they noticed a hair-covered figure walking on a ridge by an old sheep pasture. The store owner came out and also watched it. After watching them for two to three minutes while hunkered down, the figure stood, walked away along the ridge looking back, and disappeared into timber.

The animal stood up, bared its teeth silently, and walked toward them, causing them to flee into the companion's house. Two boys were playing in the afternoon near a slate dump and coal mine entrance when they saw an upright gray-white ape-like creature standing at the mine mouth with an arm resting on a high timber.
