Deer hunters have frightening nightime encounter near White Plains
Late at night while camping for deer season, a companion who walked over a hill to a creek reported seeing a tall figure drinking that then stood and watched him, prompting him to run back to camp. Moments later the rest of the group heard loud crashing through brush and saw the silhouette of a very large human-shaped figure with long arms running hunched over on the hilltop by moonlight and lamplight. The group then packed up and left the woods.

Five teenagers camped overnight under a cliff overhang in the national forest. Around midnight they heard heavy bipedal footsteps approach and stop behind a large poplar tree below the camp. Two of them used flashlights to watch red eyeshine peeking from the tree, then the creature stepped fully into view for about ten seconds before retreating behind the tree and later leaving diagonally through the hollow making huffing sounds.

A group of eight people were raccoon hunting with dogs when the dogs returned frightened with tails tucked. He watched a 5-6 foot black, upright creature with long arms move quietly by leaping between tree bases and walking logs. At about 75 yards it noticed him, hid behind a tree peeking at him, then used the tree for cover and disappeared, after which he climbed down and left.

The witness and his son were walking back to the truck after deer hunting when they saw a tall hair-covered figure come out of a cedar thicket about 50 yards down their path. Something shook trees and threw large rocks and small sapling trees into their camp for hours, retreating when the fire was built up and returning as it died down. At daylight they found saplings broken off and uprooted around camp and hiked out to the road.

Through binoculars the witness watched a large hairy figure sitting on a log hitting it with a rock, then standing, looking toward the witness, moving its head side to side while hunched, and dashing into the thicket.

The witness and a relative were driving home late at night when their headlights revealed a tall, muscular, hair-covered human-like figure standing partly on the roadway. The passenger, within a few feet of it, described its human-like face and eyes watching the car as they passed. After several minutes of silence both occupants reacted and continued discussing the encounter.

After a bobcat approached then abruptly fled, the witness smelled a strong pungent odor and saw a reddish hairy figure lean from behind a large beech tree and stare without moving. The witness ran down the mountain to the yard.

While walking out on a remote logging road after discovering flat tires, the witness confronted a black bear that kept approaching despite shouting. A large hairy biped rushed down the hill on all fours, landed in the road and slid, causing the bear to flee. The biped then stood, stared, and bluff-charged twice with loud vocalizations until the witness fled on foot and was later picked up by drivers in a pickup.

He heard rustling, shone his flashlight, and saw a small hair-covered figure staring at him for a few seconds. The figure glanced aside and was abruptly jerked out of sight, which he interpreted as its mother pulling it away.

In April 1991 around 2 p.m., the witness was playing with a BB gun near a garden and ravine, jumped onto a rock, and encountered a roughly 5-foot tall hair-covered creature within about 13 feet. The creature ran away through the woods with loud branch-breaking sounds, and the witness fled to the house then returned with a relative. They found broken branches, slide marks, and a three-toed footprint, though the witness later noted the tracks might not be from the same animal.
