Sasquatch sighting in West Virginia (1984)
While visiting relatives, the witness and a young relative looked out a back door after an older relative remarked about monkeys playing behind the house. Three hair-covered bipedal beings walked through a dry creek bed across a pasture without looking up. The group included a taller individual, a shorter muscular female carrying an infant clinging to her neck, and they entered the treeline.

The witness and a companion were night fishing at a rural lake when they heard loud, unintelligible voice-like sounds from the woods uphill behind them. The witness was deer hunting in a wooded area in the late afternoon when a tall, hair-covered biped walked across about 30 yards away from right to left. The creature continued down to the witness's elevation, around a hill and down a logging road through a meadow until out of sight over 2-3 minutes. The witness later searched the meadow without relocating it and later found leaf impressions showing a long stride.

Large boulders then came down the hillside toward them, prompting them to flee uphill. As they ran, the writer glanced back and saw a large black shape disappearing over the hillside.

Two teenagers were collecting nightcrawlers behind a rural house just after dark when they heard something moving down through dense briars on a nearby logging road. The witness shone a flashlight and watched a very tall, muscular, hair-covered animal move past about 60 feet away for several seconds. The pair were frightened, and the next day they used a sapling to estimate its height at nine feet.

Late at night the witness was driving on a rural road with a farm on one side and an apple orchard on the other when a large hair-covered figure crossed the road ahead of the vehicle. The figure paused in the middle of the road to look toward the headlights, allowing a clear view, then continued across. The guest and his younger brother were on summer vacation at their grandfather's hillside house in West Virginia. After the younger brother fled the back bedroom saying a hairy face had pushed through the unscreened window while sniffing the air, both boys ran outside and, in headlights reflected off the siding, watched a dark bipedal figure go down the rear embankment and crash through a dense briar thicket. The next morning their uncle turned pale when told and warned them to stay out of the back.

In November 1969, the witness and his father were hunting in the morning when the father spotted what he first thought was a bear across a hay field. Both then observed a large brown-haired biped standing at the far fence line for an extended period through a rifle scope and field glasses. The father said he did not know what it was and chose not to shoot, and they returned to camp where he armed himself and kept the witness inside.

In August 1969 the witness was walking on a hillside path above her sister, who was walking on a dirt road toward the store. When her sister passed a natural spring, a tall hairy creature stood up from the brush, and the witness screamed for her sister to run. Her sister saw the creature and ran, while the creature quickly stooped back down and moved into brush along the creek.

The witness and a companion were walking in woods behind a relative's farm when they came to a hilltop clearing. They watched an unfamiliar animal bent over using its upper limbs for several minutes. The animal then stood bipedally, looked at them, and left by jumping over a barbed-wire fence at the edge of a thicket, after which the pair ran back to the farmhouse.

Five people drove to a rural spot at night to hang out. After dogs in a hollow below barked then fell suddenly silent, the group heard movement in brush and saw a tall fur-covered figure stand at the hill edge making huffing sounds. When the driver turned on the car headlights the figure covered its face and moved behind trees as the group fled in the car.

The witness was walking home through a graveyard at dusk when they noticed a large dark hairy creature among the tombstones. The creature paced, appeared to dig at a grave, made wailing sounds, and made shoulder-shrugging and hopping movements. When it noticed the witness it acted agitated and started toward them, causing the witness to leave.

The witness reports that during winter 1978-79 the household repeatedly heard loud howls and screams late at night around their rural home. Drain pipes around the home were knocked down and many large human-like footprints were found. The tracks were later destroyed by the witness's father, and the witness interprets the sounds and tracks as a Sasquatch passing through.

The witness camped alone overnight on a ridge and was awakened around 10 p.m. by a loud, unfamiliar animal call heard from three directions around the tent. The accompanying dog reacted fearfully while the witness could see nothing with a flashlight. The witness left all gear and hiked out that night, returning the next day to find everything untouched and no tracks.

The witness and two companions were coon hunting at night in a hollow when their dogs became frightened and refused to lead. From 80 to 100 yards ahead they heard an extremely loud 6- to 7-second bellow-roar rising to high-pitched cries, then later a low 5-second growl from about 50 yards and a second shorter high-pitched scream after reaching the ridge top. They never saw the source and returned home without further incident.

At a later property the witness and his mother heard a distant vocalization that moved closer, shifting from owl-like to coyote-like to an elongated whoop. Nearby dogs did not react except their own dog. The witness concluded it was a Sasquatch moving through toward a mountain saddle.

Late at night the witness heard activity outside, put out a recorder, and heard rocks clacked together and an extremely loud branch break up the hill. He also saw a large upright human-shaped silhouette move quickly and silently between trees about 50 yards away. He concluded a second individual made the uphill sounds while the seen one moved downhill.

On the guest's farm a werewolf-like figure moved toward the guest's young child who was playing. The guest believed it lived in a nearby cave and may have been drawn by livestock. The guest pursued it with a firearm and it left.

The witness drove her brother's car to a nearby Sheetz around midnight and noticed a large dark animal near the drive-through area. As she parked the animal rose onto its hind legs, stared at her with white reflective eyes, then ran bipedally into nearby woods at remarkable speed. She remained frozen in the car in fear for several minutes before leaving, and later revisited the spot in daylight with her husband and found no trace.
