The witness was falling asleep at home at night when outdoor dogs began barking unusually loudly. The witness heard heavy, large-stepping footfalls below the bedroom window, went outside with a flashlight and saw nothing but smelled a strong skunk-like odor. The witness called 911 but no officer came, and a morning search found no tracks, fur, or odor.
Early morning sighting by a truck driver near Richland Chambers Lake
Around 1:30 a.m. on August 25, 2009, the witness was driving an 18-wheeler slowly on an oil-field lease road in Freestone County, Texas, when he noticed a hairy, big-headed creature squatting by the road. The creature stood upright to about cab height, growled audibly over the diesel engine, then ran bipedally across the road into a treeline at remarkable speed. The witness remained on site to work for about an hour, feeling frightened and alert for its return.

Two canine handlers were driving separate Tahoes home late at night between Ozona and Big Lake. A large black animal on all fours rushed from the ditch at the lead Tahoe, turned and paced it for 50 to 150 feet at 80 to 85 mph at window height. It lacked a horse or cow-like neck and elongated head, then fell back. The trailing officer saw no detail.

The witness hiked into the national forest in late afternoon to photograph woods and wildlife and waited near a utility clearing. After briefly seeing a juvenile bear emerge and retreat, the witness turned and noticed a large upright human-like shape close by in thick brush. The witness found about a 20-foot section of another neighbor's metal-post chain-link fence pulled straight up out of the ground with concrete still attached, leaning toward the road rather than inward. The neighbor later rebuilt it topped with concertina wire.

Two people were kayaking on a river corridor when they hit a log jam and went ashore to go around it. While on shore they found a series of large human-like footprints they felt did not match known local animals. They photographed the tracks, later estimated at 12 inches long, and reported hearing a pig squealing near the same spot on their return.

Two people were riding horses in single file a few hundred yards from a corral in the early to mid afternoon. The horses became nervous with ears moving back and forth, and a strong dirty wet-dog odor was noticed. Two closely grown intertwined trees nearby began shaking violently from about five to six feet up, though nothing could be seen between the branches. The riders focused on controlling the startled horses and then turned back toward the corral.

The witness drove to the back of a hunting property and left the truck running while replacing an apple block and checking game trails. While squatted looking for sign, the witness heard a close guttural sound, drew a pistol, felt heavy footsteps, and saw a very large biped run about 20 yards through brush before dropping to all fours and crashing away. The witness found no tracks due to soil conditions, backed out to the truck, and drove away watching for pursuit.

The witness was riding as a passenger with a relative driving home when they first noticed a large crouched figure by the roadside. After turning around and losing sight of it, they saw a tall, dark reddish-brown shaggy upright figure cross the road ahead of them in two steps. The figure moved quickly, did not look at the cars, and disappeared into roadside bushes, after which the witnesses left the area.

Three men in a truck had just passed through a ranch gate in daylight when a tall, dark-haired creature emerged from a pine thicket and ran across the road in front of them in about three strides. It continued over a fence into trees on the other side in a matter of seconds without making sound. The witness was driving east on I-10 near Sonora around 1 a.m. when headlights revealed a tall dark figure standing in the center median. The figure rotated to keep its side toward the vehicle, then turned to face it before running south across the road with a forward lean and pumping arms. The witness turned back and searched the median for about 30 minutes but found only grass and no tree or bush to explain the figure.

The witness and his teenage son rowed to an isolated wooded shore at night to set off fireworks while family watched from across the water. The witness heard loud huffing and grunting, crashing through brush, and smelled strong body odor approaching in the dense woods. He briefly saw a very large, wide, shaggy human-like silhouette between trees in his flashlight beam. He took his son and paddled away quickly, leaving chairs and fireworks equipment behind.
