The witness and others were gathered near a dam after fishing when they heard a faint strange sound from the canyon direction. The sound repeated louder and closer, culminating in a roaring howl-cry from about 50-75 yards away along the tree line. Everyone present fled toward the cabins.

The witness was on a military training exercise at Ft. Bragg when he walked away from his group after sunrise to a small sandy clearing. He found very large human-like barefoot tracks with a smaller set of child-sized tracks crossing the clearing into surrounding pines. He followed them across the clearing where they disappeared into the trees, but returned without others examining them due to lack of time.

The witness was walking a dog late at night on a road next to woods when the dog stopped, stared toward the mountain, and growled. About 30 seconds later the witness heard a loud howl/scream lasting up to about 20 seconds that seemed to come from partway up the mountain, after which neighborhood dogs began barking. The witness and dog returned home, and a check of the area the next morning found no tracks.

A white, roughly 7-foot-tall creature then crossed the road in front of them from one wooded side to the other. After hearing it approach again, they fled and encountered a park officer.

Two forestry workers finishing a pre-dawn spotted owl survey heard a loud, deep yell lasting about five seconds from a canyon below them. The sound echoed through the canyon and struck both as too deep and sustained to be human. They saw no animal and later wondered if the source was responding to their imitated owl calls.

An investigator visited the site days later and documented about half a dozen large tracks leading from the water's edge upstream to bedrock. The witness and a companion were camping overnight in a tent near a river when, about 15 minutes after turning in, they heard an extremely loud primal scream from very close range. The witness estimated the sound came from several feet off the ground and within a few dozen yards and remained in the tent out of fear. No visual contact or physical traces were reported.

The witness returned alone the next day to revisit an abandoned campsite found with companions the day before. While walking toward the tree line he noticed movement about 200 yards ahead and then saw a reddish-brown hair-covered man-like figure stooped over with its hands on its knees, staring at him.
