As a 12-year-old walking home from the school bus with five other children, the witness noticed movement from a deep ditch beside a gravel road. A hair-covered figure rose from the ditch, crossed the road on two feet, vaulted a pony fence with one hand, and sprinted across an open field much faster than ponies. The figure was estimated at about six feet tall and its face was not seen.

While camping with relatives and neighbors, the witness drove west toward a highway early the next morning to buy supplies, accompanied by an adult. About 10 miles from camp, he saw a large reddish animal emerge from the forest, stand upright at the road edge, and cross the road in two steps before disappearing into dense woods. The adult companion was asleep and did not see it. The witness later described the encounter to a store worker, who said similar reports of a large unknown animal had been heard in the area.

The witness was deer hunting alone in a swamp in late November when he heard an unfamiliar loud scream to the north followed by a loud branch breaking. He became uneasy and walked out to his car while watching behind him. Near his car he noticed a broad, roughly 8-foot-tall bipedal form standing about 35 yards away behind dense cover, which he believed had followed him. He left with a handgun ready and avoided hunting the swamp for several years.

The witness, then a young teenager staying at a migrant apple-picking camp, stepped outside in the evening and saw a very large gray figure walking near a bare hill and orchard tree line toward the highway. The figure was described as thick, hunchbacked, and much taller than a man, moving unlike a man. The witness told no one at the time and now states a belief that such creatures exist.

Late at night the witness was reading in bed with the window open when the window screen flew into the middle of the room. The witness then saw a large hairy arm reaching in through the window. After freezing for a couple of minutes, the witness ran past the window to get help, and a parent found no one outside.

She and others hear footsteps pacing them along the tree line, loud crashing movement, screeching sounds and cracking noises, often accompanied by a strange smell. Family members and visitors have also reported red eyeshine and ape-like figures, and large footprints were found in snow. An investigator later visited, interviewed family members and noted unusual stick and vegetation features in the woods.
