Howl near Lytle Creek, California (1999)
The witness and his father were camping overnight in a canyon campsite. After dinner while sitting at the campfire they heard a distant loud howl from toward the canyon entrance that was answered by a whoop from behind camp. The two sounds continued in call-and-response for about 10-15 minutes and seemed to move closer and shift position, prompting them to load their guns. The sounds then stopped, and fresh snow overnight prevented any track search the next morning.
Whistle in California (1999)
Shortly after graduation the witness and three friends camped overnight in a vacant house and were tormented by whistles and loud bangs on windows all night. They found the house completely destroyed when they returned the next day. On a dusk return with shotguns they saw trailers upslope, heard the whistle again, and a large rock was thrown at them, prompting gunfire before they fled.

The witness was driving with a relative in the late afternoon when they noticed a tall, reddish-brown fur-covered human-like figure descending a snow-covered clear-cut hillside. They watched it walk about 400 yards, step over a small fir tree, pause to look around, then disappear into forest at the base. Afterward they realized three other cars had also pulled over to watch.
Horrible screaming vocalizations heard
The witness and companions were gathered around a large campfire after dinner when a companion asked for quiet. They then heard loud, repeated screaming from above the basin that the witness matched to a Bigfoot sound from a radio-show recording. After a few minutes they fired a shotgun twice, after which the sounds stopped and nothing was found.

A solo backpacker camped overnight at the Mud Springs hunter camp. Around 10:30 p.m. he was awakened by a loud branch snap followed by heavy vibrating footsteps passing very close to his tent. His nested cook pots were then heard clanging and later found unnested and spread out. After finding a long hair on his backpack Velcro he broke camp and drove to Red Bluff.
A camper hears strange late night howls near Foresthill
The witness was sleeping in a large reenactment camp in forested hills when loud, deep howling woke him. The sounds first came from a distant ridge and about an hour later came from much closer down the road, waking many others in camp. The witness loaded his weapon before falling back asleep and heard the sounds move farther away twice more. No tracks were found the next morning.

A family of four was fishing along the Klamath River on a sunny afternoon when they noticed quiet woods and a strong sour odor. They saw a very large dark-brown hair-covered figure standing across the river by brush and watched for a few minutes as it crouched to drink. The figure was gone after a loud jeep passed and distracted them.

The witness reported hearing loud, piercing screams for about 22 minutes at night, starting with one screaming sound and later joined by a louder, longer second voice calling at regular intervals. The witness was sleeping alone on a rock ledge above a drainage when she heard loud repetitive whooping and howling from far below. The source moved rapidly uphill, climbed a steep cliff to the ledge, and ran past her toward the peak above, pausing briefly to look toward her. It then vocalized from the top of the peak until near sunrise, and she left the area at first light.

Late at night the witness was driving with family when the headlights revealed a creature standing on a rock beside the road. The creature was initially bent over facing the car, then very slowly rose upright while looking toward the occupants as they passed. The witness described a thin, dark-haired figure with long arms and an elderly appearance.
Campers hear strange late night sounds near Florence Lake
After fishing, the witness and a companion set up camp for the night and sat by a campfire after dark. They heard a low horn-like sound that seemed to approach from a ledge behind the camp. They then briefly saw a pair of pale glowing eyes in that direction. After a warning shout and a warning shot, they quickly packed up, extinguished the fire, and drove home.

The witness was day-hiking alone in a remote wilderness area when they noticed a strong sickly-sweet, garlic-like odor they could not source. In the same area they heard a screeching vocalization they did not recognize as bear, mountain lion, or raptor. They also found large footprints near where they had eaten lunch, measuring about 14 by 6 inches, which they felt were not bear tracks but could not positively identify due to hard rocky ground.

Later the same year, the witness was alone paddling a 17-foot canoe on the small lake late at night. Something large rose under the canoe and lifted it a foot or two out of the water, and he balanced on its ridged back for a few seconds and saw overlapping large scales in moonlight. It lowered him back down, and he paddled fast to the dock and did not experience it again despite many later trips.

The teenage volunteer and his younger cousin were biking and then walking a dense trail toward a waterfall when they smelled decay and heard rustling. A reddish-brown hairy arm reached through thick brush very close to the witness and snapped off a limb, showing a human-like hand. Both fled immediately, later told the foreman, and returned the next day to recover the bikes but found no tracks due to rocky ground.
Family has sightings and encounters in Santa Cruz mountains
In 2004 the witness was watching television in an outdoor covered porch at night and turned it off after hearing a noise. A very loud screaming roar was then heard close in front of the house, sounding three times while apparently moving along the driveway, with the last call ending in sounds like mimicked dog barks. The witness's parents also heard the sounds and nearby dogs reacted strongly.
Boundary Peak area, three witnesses observe strange humanlike tracks
While camping, three people waded across a flooded creek after climbing a nearby peak and noticed a set of blurred, fuzzy-edged footprints on the far side that had not been present an hour earlier. The prints were roughly human-foot sized. Later that evening they discussed the find around a campfire with a passing patrol agent, who said similar prints were known locally as Little Foot.
