Around 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 1, 2000, the reporter and a fellow security officer were standing outside a guarded building talking. The fellow officer reacted and said he saw a tall, all-black, heavily built figure near the tree line that moved out of view around another building. The reporter himself saw nothing, and a search on foot and by vehicle found nothing.

Four men were driving south late at night towing a loaded travel trailer when a tall dark form ran toward the road on two feet. The car passed in front of it, but the trailer struck it with enough force to lift the trailer off the ground. After getting back in the truck, the witness saw a large dark figure emerge from the treeline and cross the road in a few long strides while glancing toward them. They drove to the other side of a gully, noticed a strong odor, but the figure was gone and no tracks were later found.

On a cold Friday winter night under a full moon, the witness ran at full speed into an upright hairy figure while trying to ambush children walking the dirt road. He stared at it from about two feet for up to two minutes, noting size and mange-like appearance, before it swung hand-over-hand through trees into swamp water. He was left with an overpowering sweet garbage-like body odor lasting days and moved his family away within weeks.

On New Year's Day morning the witness was birdwatching off-trail in a Florida state park when they noticed a hairy arm gripping a pine with a nest box about 100 yards away. Through binoculars they watched a hair-covered creature hug the opposite side of the trunk, peeking out and shifting to stay hidden for several minutes. When the witness stepped closer, the creature dropped and fled unseen through saw palmettos, leaving a wake of moving vegetation.

On May 21, 1999 the witness and a friend were hunting armadillos in woods near St. Cloud, Florida when they saw a large hairy biped. The creature walked slowly with low arms and a hunched back, turned to stare at them for about four seconds, then continued walking until out of sight. The two ran back to their group to report the sighting, which most of the group did not believe.

The witness and his wife were awakened around 2 a.m. by sounds outside their bedroom window and a very strong odor coming through the window. An unseen source then produced a loud, wild, almost human-like shriek. Their two dogs, normally fearless, refused to leave the room, and the couple did not go outside. The witness inferred whatever was at the window must have been at least seven feet tall to reach it.

The lead individual was described as a 6.5-foot light-brown male walking hunched, followed about 15 yards behind by a 5.5-foot black female with breasts who appeared to be holding something at her waist. Both were said to walk without locking their knees.

The witness was hunting hogs at dawn in a remote forest area while a companion was stationed about 150 yards away. After noticing paired trails in wet grass and hearing soft splashing from a cypress head, the witness heard a low powerful harrumph-like sound that caused alarm. The witness then took cover behind a dirt mound and watched the area for about an hour without seeing anything leave to the east, west, or south.

While driving at night near Fanning Springs, the witness rounded a bend and caught a large black upright figure in the headlights standing on the edge of the road. The figure appeared startled and hunkered down with its head obscured, showing wet glistening black fur. The witness slowed as the figure turned off the road and disappeared into a swampy area.

Two coworkers were driving home late at night in steady rain when they noticed a very tall, bulky, hair-covered figure standing at the edge of the highway facing their car. The figure had long shaggy yellowish hair that obscured its face and appeared to be holding a tarp-like covering over its shoulders and chest. After passing it, both occupants agreed it was too tall and hairy to be human, but they were too frightened to turn back for another look.

The witness was driving north on Highway 349 around 5 a.m. on Feb. 9, 1998. In the middle of the road the witness saw a small reddish long-haired ape-like creature about 5-foot-5 to 6 feet tall picking up roadkill. The creature then ran off into the woods.

The witness and two companions were driving on a dirt road at night using a spotlight to look for deer, with the witness sitting in the truck bed holding the light. The witness illuminated a huge bear-like figure with red eyes at the edge of the woods and estimated its height at about 6 feet 5 inches to 7 feet. The witness quickly climbed into the truck cab through the rear window. A companion on the same side of the truck also saw the figure.

While on night patrol, the witness responded to a companion's report of something standing by trees behind a building and shone a spotlight into the woods. A very large upright hairy creature holding a branch was seen, which then dropped the branch, looked back with red eyeshine, screamed, and ran away with a strong odor left behind. The witnesses later found a large pine branch torn from about nine feet up.

The witness and a companion went to night-fish a muddy runoff pond beside dense woods. From very close range they heard an extremely loud, powerful scream that felt physically intense but they could not locate any source despite scanning with flashlights. They left the area quickly without seeing anything.
