The witness returned with a friend and camped, heard footsteps by the tent at night, then walked alone across the creek on a foggy morning. He found a footprint, droppings and a dead smell, listened to heavy breathing behind a thicket for hours, heard a vocalization and a stick hitting a tree, then saw a head peering from behind a large pine. He viewed it through his rifle scope, saw teeth, then walked toward the trail as it left on two legs, and it paralleled him back toward camp.

A hunter watching from a blind through a scope first mistook the animal for a bear, then noted a human-like face and an apparently injured left arm hanging unused.
