Two hikers share sighting in which each sees a different creature
The witness and a companion were backpacking and bushwhacking toward a fire road in the evening. After hearing a strange whistle and footsteps near a stream, they stopped in a meadow. Each then watched a separate upright, two-legged creature cross the area, one dark and one dirty-white, before the pair left quickly for the fire road.

On a weekend morning the witness and two companions walked down a trail toward the back fields and noticed a strong odor of death and wet dog. The witness saw a small hairy juvenile peeking from behind what proved to be the leg of a very large female standing motionless in a clearing. After he pointed at her she roared, the group fled while hearing screams, howls and chatter around them, and the next morning a large log they played on was found broken.

In late August 1973, two companions setting up a hunting camp at night heard loud screams, whistles, and brush thrashing around them and retreated into their truck cab. The witness then shone a spotlight toward the sounds and saw an erect, dark brown-to-black biped move rapidly up a steep rock slide on two legs. The witness later felt the animal had no intent to harm them.

The witness and a friend were in the woods near a creek bottom when the friend sensed being watched. The witness saw a figure about 25 yards away that was squatting, then stood seven to eight feet tall, covered in very dark brown hair except the face, and walked upright. It followed them to the edge of the wood line with a long stride and swinging arms while making whistling noises.

The witness and his wife returned in late January to a rock grotto where he had earlier found a possible bedding area. They found the bed intact but an old wagon moved from a ledge with drag marks in the rock. As they hiked out through a ravine, unseen actors on both ridges followed them for about an hour with knocks, whistles and other vocalizations, shaking and snapping saplings and throwing rocks until the pair reached the woods edge. Neither reported seeing anything.

The witness was deer hunting alone from a ground blind in northern Minnesota. A frightened doe ran into the blind and lay down behind the witness. Shortly after, two large hairy creatures appeared on either side, one stepping briefly out of a cornfield and another showing only the top of its head in brush, vocalizing and moving around before leaving, after which the deer walked away and the witness left.

The witness describes growing up in a remote wooded home where the family routinely encountered a tall white figure with red eyes called Whistling Paddy. She recalls hearing its whistling and screaming sounds as a child, while relatives reported seeing it around the home, especially at dusk when it came for vegetable scraps. The family did not generally fear it but brought children inside after dark.

The witness was camping overnight with a large scout group near a lake when a large pot of food disappeared from camp. Throughout the night the group heard bushes thrashing, repeated tree knocks, and loud long whistles coming from different sides of the camp. Counselors kept everyone by the fire until daylight, when another scout group helped them leave and police were called but reportedly found nothing.

The witness heard whistling and chomping sounds near a creek and looked toward them. A very muscular, hairy, man-like creature was present for about two minutes before walking into the treeline at the creek edge. The witness later returned to the area and found footprints by the creek.

Over two-week periods in 1992 and 1993, the witness repeatedly heard loud nighttime sounds near a lakeside cabin, described as whistling, chattering, screams and deep thumping lasting one to four minutes. Over several summers the household repeatedly heard a loud high rising whistle in the early morning from the same wooded spot near home. In the third summer the witness and a relative walked toward the sound with baseball bats and got within about 25 yards. While the whistle continued they heard a wet growling sound at the same time and fled. The whistling was heard only once the next year and then stopped.

Late at night the witness and a companion were talking outside a house bordering woods when they heard loud screaming they first mistook for a woman. They took a light and tools and went a short way into the woods, where the sound became a loud high-pitched whistling with heavy rapid breathing very close beside them. Unable to see the source and unnerved, they retreated, called police, and listened as the screams moved away to the southeast and faded.

The witness and his step-cousin were picking berries when the cousin whimpered and fled. After hearing loud whistles, the witness reached into the thicket, touched hair, and saw a large creature squatted in the bush showing its side, shoulder and leg with knee near eye level. He froze, then dropped his bowl and ran home.

While the caller sat in a ground blind and his friend sat nearby, a loud deep monkey-like or owl-like sound came from about 80 yards behind and moved 20 yards at a time. It sounded close and perfectly enunciated with no person visible. Another hunter nearby heard similar whistles moving toward him and left with his pistol.

While sitting in a tree stand at a bait site the hunter heard a very loud clear whistle-like vocalization with enunciation. He looked up expecting a person nearby but saw no one, shouted thanks, and left thinking another hunter spoiled the site.

The guest recalled that as children without television they would sit on the porch after dark and whistle. Whistles answered from different directions in the woods, sometimes for hours. The guest could not prove what was whistling back.
