An acquaintance who drove a bus said that years earlier while trucking across Alligator Alley at night he stopped at a lone stop sign where a damaged car sat empty with doors open and lights on. As he prepared to leave to find a phone, a massive wide-bodied hairy thing rushed from the woods to his cab, stared him in the eyes, yelled and dented his hood. At the next phone he met the car's occupants, who said they had hit one creature and then been attacked by another before fleeing with passing motorists.

He heard sticks breaking and louder thrashing, then saw movement in myrtle bushes and a tall tree shaking violently while a loud whoa-whoa vocalization sounded. He fled to the locked truck, and his father dismissed the sound as a cow.
