The witness was deer hunting from a stand when chirping sounds approached through the woods. A large dark manlike figure stepped into a shooting lane about 30 feet away and looked around. After the witness called out, it stared at him and left in a few strides.

Four ape-like animals repeatedly approached the trailers, peered in windows, vocalized at night, left tracks, damaged structures, and killed livestock. The father shot the largest animal in the shoulder near the pump house, after which the animals moved faster and more cautiously but continued the activity. Forestry and law-enforcement visitors reportedly told the father to stop shooting, and timber workers and well drillers also encountered the animals.

The guest's sister said that in the 1970s she repeatedly heard something bipedal walking behind her house at night. The next morning her son found long reddish-brown hair on a barbed-wire fence where the sounds had been. In later years she has also reported howl-like vocalizations and heavy breathing from the woods and once made a phone recording.

The witness describes repeated nighttime experiences from childhood into late teens where he would fall asleep and wake up outside in a field without knowing how he got there. He recalls bruises, a sensation of being held, seeing his own body from above, a bright light in his face, feeling restrained, and hearing voices urging him to come outside. The witness, recently out of the military, was fly-fishing with three relatives in a steep, remote river gorge. He turned to see an upright animal at close range that quickly climbed the steep bank to the ridgeline. The group then heard extremely loud guttural vocalizations and huffs, saw movement on the ridge, and had a large rock land in the water near them. They left at dusk and later agreed among themselves it had not been a bear despite one relative's dismissive explanation.

The witness was camping with two companions near a lake in Yosemite. After hearing cracking in brush in the afternoon, they heard a close loud roar rising to a high scream at night and smelled a wet-dog odor. Other campers said something ran past their tent, and the group stayed in the tent until sunrise then left without continuing their trip.

Two giant black beasts emerged fighting, tumbling down the bank into shallow water, slapping, grappling and biting. He saw a large monkey-like creature leaning over a fence about 15 to 20 yards from the window, swaying its head. The family was finishing work at their bee yard in the evening when the father noticed a man-like figure standing by a tall stump. A very loud yipping yell was heard twice, the family dog reacted fearfully, and nearby coyotes fell silent. The figure loped away with dangling arms and long, sure-footed strides, and comparison to the stump afterward led the father to estimate it at about nine feet tall.

In summer 1965 the witness, then a child, joined other children searching sand dunes above Lake Huron after two children reported a frightening encounter. On a steep dune path in full moonlight she came face-to-face with a short orange-haired upright creature that growled, then grunted while swinging its arms and walking toward her. She fled to the beach and later learned her young sister had seen the same creature at close range from the side of the path.

The witness was rabbit hunting along a dirt road when a very tall, shaggy dark brown figure appeared about 30 feet ahead, stared and grunted, then walked quietly into the woods. The witness did not feel threatened but turned back toward the car while hearing cracking branches and low-to-high tones from where the figure went. Some sounds were answered from the other side of the road, prompting the witness to walk faster.

After the witness shot a deer, the follower vocalized loudly and thrashed brush and trees while pursuing them downhill. While on a solo night escape-and-evasion march at Fort Jackson, the witness stopped at a fire-lane crossing around 2 a.m. in total darkness. Something approached, moved away after being challenged, made growling talk-like sounds, then approached again before crashing away through brush. Startled, the witness ran and eventually reached another soldier with a fire and truck.

After placing flowers, the group heard a crash at the woods edge and saw a large dark hairy creature standing behind the back fence about 50 yards away. The creature grunted and shuffled back into the woods, and the group quickly got in the car and left.
