Daytime sighting by six siesmographic workers in the Uinta Mountains
Six coworkers on a seismic crew were eating lunch on a hill when they noticed a dark hair-covered figure moving through timber about 500 yards away. The figure walked upright on two legs with long swinging arms and made muttering sounds before noticing the men, then fled into the timber breaking branches. The men then heard loud screaming and moaning vocalizations from the timber and left the area by helicopter.

Once downwind it gave an ear-ringing scream followed by grunts for about two minutes, then left into very thick cover. Two men returned at night to a fenced rural property above Sonora after viewing a motorcycle for sale. A tall, wide human-like figure stepped from brush a short distance away, looked at them, then crossed the clearing toward a shed in a few strides while making a huff sound. One man got into their truck while the other backed onto the hood with a knife, and they later spent a sleepless night guarding the cabin door.

Three hunters camped in a river bottom over the opening weekend of bow season. Over several days and nights they reported heavy impacts, rustling, a skunk-like odor, red eyeshine, wood knocks, whistles, talk-like mumbling, a whoop-ending vocalization, and bent trees and branch structures. The most intense moment was a predawn episode with a deep guttural roar followed by a scream-like sound near camp. They left early after smelling the odor again near a plum thicket.

The witness and two dogs were walking through a field to check for salmon when an extremely loud hoot-like sound stopped them. After a second loud call they fled toward the house while a third call sounded from behind. They reached the house in terror and later listened from the backyard with a relative but heard nothing further.

While camping on an island during a multi-day canoe trip, the witness and a companion heard a distant crying-like sound that grew louder and became high-pitched growling as something paced on the opposite shore after dark. They tracked the sounds with flashlights but never saw the source, though they thought trees were swaying. After a rifle shot was fired over the sounds, the vocalizations stopped and the source was heard running away through the forest.

The witness was sleeping alone in a tent on a group camping trip when a strong odor woke them. A large hairy arm reached in through the tent flap, felt around, then withdrew. The witness then perceived two tall figures outside through the tent fabric and heard male and female vocalizations as the beings yelled and ran away.

The witness group was camping near Mills Creek in the morning when their two dogs rushed into the shelter acting frightened and staring toward a spruce grove. After keeping watch, the group briefly saw a dark upright shape moving away through bushes and about half an hour later heard repetitive grunting from a distance. The group did not investigate and left the area cautiously.

In summer 1983 a camp leader took an assistant and nine boys on an overnight hike on Tet Ridge. During the afternoon hike they repeatedly glimpsed a large black figure at a distance and found very large tracks and broken branches high above the ground. That night at a near-summit camp the group heard multiple loud roars and stayed awake by the fire, also hearing movement below. They found no further sign on the hike out and agreed not to tell others.

A loud, powerful, unfamiliar call came from across the sink, described as starting like a deep growl and growing in volume and tone. The group was startled and frightened and quickly left for their vehicles.

Silhouetted figures with bulbous heads lined both sides of the bed while cluttered voices sounded in his head, giving the impression of being studied. Two men walking through very dense brush heard a loud roar-like sound ending in a high-pitched shriek. They then smelled a very strong foul odor and heard unseen brush movement, followed by a second, closer howl. Both men fled through the brush and exited about half a mile from where they entered. The account was relayed to the reporter by a relative of one participant, who said the participant remained frightened of that woods afterward.

The witness and a friend parked in a car on a wide tractor path near creek bottoms at night to drink before a party. A very large hair-covered biped took one long stride into the path about 20-25 feet away and faced the car for a minute or more, breathing heavily and flexing its fists. After a whistle-like sound from the woods, the creature made a dismissive huff, stepped out of sight in one stride, and left silently. The two men drove away and did not return.

The witness and two companions sat on a raised platform in the woods at night while a coyote call imitating a wounded rabbit was blown for about half an hour. They then heard something circling the platform in dense underbrush with loud footsteps and deep grunting while the surrounding woods went silent. They could not see the source at the edge of the flashlight beam and eventually climbed down and ran to a nearby house.

After about 20 minutes they heard something breaking limbs while approaching from the ridge and retreated to the truck. When the witness stepped toward a large fir tree, an extremely loud guttural roar came from behind it, and both fled leaving tools behind.

Four boys were camping behind a house on a wooded hilltop above a creek drainage. During the day they heard loud, repeated bird-like and chimp-like calls approaching to within a few dozen yards, accompanied by movement in the brush, which visibly unsettled one companion. That evening they heard whistling calls across the camp for about an hour, and after most fell asleep the awake brother heard someone approach from the creek side and stand at the camp edge breathing heavily before leaving.

Two companions were pushing their bicycles up a steep driveway at night after visiting a neighbor. A large silhouette crossed the driveway entrance twice, then stopped at the top, looked at them and gave a short grunt. Frightened, they dropped their bikes and ran back to the house, later retrieving the bikes with the neighbor's help and riding home.

Early one morning in March 1982 the witness was feeding young cattle in an outdoor pen on a dairy farm. After hearing a grunt, the witness saw a tall dark bipedal figure stand up near a hay feeder and then walk away toward the woods and over a fence. The witness heard crunching footsteps and fence noise for several seconds, then later found no tracks after the frost melted.

The guest and friends stayed midweek at a remote cabin near Osage Beach in August. At night the group had wood chunks and pebbles thrown at them and heard loud whooping, and companions heard splashing while night fishing. The next morning companions reported a hairy bear-like figure by fish guts, the woodpile was toppled, and a beaver dam was found destroyed with a pulled-apart carcass. While squirrel hunting along the creek the guest and his companion watched a five-foot ape-like creature wading and looking in the water, which approached his companion then left after clicking sounds were exchanged with another unseen individual.
