Then from about fifty feet behind him in the forest came an extremely loud escalating bark-growl-roar that shook the vehicle and his body. A younger companion walking the ravine edge within fifty yards reportedly did not hear it at all.

The guest camped several days alone with his dog, noticing hairy scat, twisted saplings forming a gate, and feeling watched. On the third night the forest went silent, footsteps approached, loud breathing and an ape-like vocalization occurred outside the tent, followed by exchanged fake owl sounds and a spinning yin-yang light with a brief vision inside the tent. In the morning disturbed dog food was attributed to a raccoon.
