On August 24 at dusk the witness was preparing dinner at a forest-edge campsite when a very loud ascending swooping cry came from the hillside above, followed by several higher shrieks. The witness felt watched during dinner and again when returning to the same spot two nights later, though nothing further was heard. An investigator later visited the area and reported a possible large footprint on the hillside.

The witness was camping overnight in a tent after fishing. During the night the witness woke and heard two loud, unfamiliar vocalizations from the east, several seconds long and seconds apart, then silence. Two companions sleeping in a car did not hear the sounds.

The witness woke in the middle of the night while camping in a tent at a wooded campground near Baker Lake. For about an hour the witness listened to distant yelping and other loud vocalizations that sounded distinct from dogs barking elsewhere in the campground, along with sounds described as rocks being thrown in the woods. The witness did not see anything and reported that no companions mentioned hearing the sounds the next day.

Two people were shining lights for alligators beside a lake at night when vegetation beside the dock shook and repeated knocking like wood hitting a tree was heard. A nearby tree then fell, and as they ran toward safety they heard heavy steps and grunting keeping pace parallel to them. About an hour later they returned and found a tall tree freshly snapped about eight feet up with dripping sap and a hair on a branch.

The witness was camped with his wife along FR 124 east of Flagstaff. While on an evening walk he heard a brief coyote chorus followed by two mid-pitch "AH,OO" calls from farther in the same direction. After returning to camp he heard additional "AH,OO" and high-pitched "WOW" calls from the same direction, totaling six odd calls, then heard nothing more by 9 PM.

The witness was family camping in the Big Cypress area when she noticed a tall black shape in the woods that vanished minutes later. Around 4 a.m. she awoke to a distant wailing sound with heavy breathing that approached the campsite, passed by the tents and left down a trail, waking several companions who also heard it. In the morning the group followed the direction of travel and found large wide footprints with a four-toe appearance in a sandy trail that had not been there the day before.

The main witness was bicycling to work in the early morning when he heard heavy steps coming from the woods beside the road. He stopped and shone a flashlight toward the sound, and the source moved back into the woods breaking branches while making grunting noises. He was frightened and rode away quickly.

Three people drove to a remote pond in mid-afternoon and heard a repetitive monkey-like 'ooh' sound. They hiked toward the sound and found a footprint while the vocalization continued and seemed to approach closely behind them without crashing brush. The witness got lost after dark on a misty rainy night in February while hunting in the bottoms and tried to follow a creek out. He shined a light and sensed bodies on both sides of the creek bed, followed by sudden commotion of leaves, heavy movement and breathy grunting. The sounds moved behind him about thirty feet and then stopped abruptly without fading into the distance, which he later interpreted as the same group of creatures.

At about 10pm the witness and his wife heard a young deer wailing for over six minutes as other deer fled. Next morning he found that deer with a hind leg ripped from the socket and head pulled off about 10-12 feet away with a muddy footprint on its leg, and the body was gone the following morning except the head.
Man Hears Evening Vocals in Prior Sighting Area
Late at night the witness heard loud, complex bark- and growl-like vocalizations coming from a ravine near the house. The sounds were described as louder and more structured than dogs, coyotes, or other familiar animals, and local dogs began barking during the episode. An attempted audio recording failed, and the sounds eventually stopped. The next day the witness found trampled vegetation, a coyote carcass, tarp pieces, a dog dish, and scat near the estimated sound source.

Two companions deer hunting walked toward their vehicle when they heard a low rumble and splashes at a drinking hole. They then watched an upright grayish-brown creature for about a minute as it lingered and walked over a ridge out of sight. They described it as 7 to 8 feet tall, heavily built with very long arms, and insisted it never dropped to all fours like a bear.
