The figure appeared startled and hunkered down with its head obscured, showing wet glistening black fur. The witness slowed as the figure turned off the road and disappeared into a swampy area.

Believing at first it was a dog possibly feeding on roadkill, they slowed as it turned, pushed itself up with its arms, and began to stand. They described an ape-like, fur-covered creature with a bare orangutan-like face, broad chest, and very long arms, and continued past without stopping.

After hearing rustling below, the witness used a flashlight and saw a tall dark-haired bipedal figure hiding behind trees about 40 feet away. The figure moved to another tree while being watched for 2-3 minutes, then ran down the creek out of sight. The witness remained by the fire until daylight and found no prints in the morning.

She screamed, and before the companion could turn around both creatures sprang up and fled into the woods in a fraction of a second. She described them as light to medium brown and very broad-shouldered with arms reaching the ground while seated, but she could not discern faces or standing height.
