A dark figure crouched by the guardrail stood, raised its arms, then lay down in the lane and the car drove over it. After other family members were called over, the animal looked toward them, moved uphill with very long strides, violently shook a small fir tree with one hand, then went over the ridge and out of sight. The whole sighting lasted 30 to 40 seconds, and a later search of the area found no tracks.
