Two companions hiking back toward camp in the early evening saw a large upright figure walking away from them on a fire road about 200 yards ahead. They watched for about a minute as it paused, moved to the side of the road, then continued quickly and disappeared around a bend or into the forest. They estimated it was over six feet tall and heavy, appearing naked or covered in brown fur.

The witness was walking back toward a lakeside cove after dropping his sister at a dock when he heard footsteps and saw a large hair-covered figure approach to within a few feet. He and his cousin jumped into the lake and watched from the water as the figure stood watching them before running rapidly up a steep brush-covered hill and disappearing. People arriving from a nearby hilltop cabin later said such creatures visited their cabin occasionally.

He described a tall, slender, muscular hair-covered figure walking hunched over that did not appear to notice him.

A tall hair-covered figure stood up, screeched, faced him briefly, then walked toward the forest like a man. He later found flattened cattails and a strong urine odor at the spot.

In early spring 1974, the witness and a same-aged companion were sitting on the sand at a Big Sur beach campground. The witness looked toward the mountainside and saw a large dark bipedal figure running rapidly downhill over steep rugged terrain. After alerting her companion, who also glimpsed the figure as it entered the treeline, both girls fled to the campground. The sighting lasted an estimated 10 to 15 seconds on a sunny late morning.
