The witness was walking alone on an old logging road into the forest when he noticed a dark, robust, hairy being crouched in thick brush watching him. The being paralleled him for 20-25 minutes, then crouched low when approached, producing a strange odor and low growl. After hearing large movement behind him, the witness retreated to the trail and watched the first being stand upright and stare, as a second much larger dark being appeared beside it before he ran home.

After a deep growl and handgun shots, they were confronted at the treeline by two large hairy figures that stomped, rocked, and threw branches. In October 2001 on a late afternoon in Woodville, Texas, the witness looked out her kitchen window while cooking and saw a large black hairy biped standing motionless in profile about 50-60 feet away beside a tall tree. She watched it for a few minutes, then looked away to collect herself and found it gone, apparently having left toward the adjoining woods. A relative searched the yard with a gun but found no sign, hearing only distant gunshots and unfamiliar men shouting in the woods.
