During an overnight fishing trip the witness and his girlfriend were sleeping in a parked vehicle near a cabin when they noticed a tall hair-covered figure standing at the tree line and two smaller crouched figures near a truck. After alerting a companion in the cabin, the witness started the vehicle to shine lights on the figures, which then fled into the trees. A companion reported something running across the road as they drove, and later the group heard commotion near the lake.

The figures walked hunched over with ape-like arm swings and long strides and appeared to come toward the witness, who then ran toward a vehicle.

The witness was driving south on Highway 219 out of Hillsboro at night with high beams on while scanning for wildlife. The headlights illuminated a tall, upright, shaggy animal standing motionless in a field a short distance from the road. The witness estimated it at about 8 feet tall, noted it faced the lights without reflective eyes, and passed it in seconds at 55 mph. On driving by again about an hour later, the animal was gone.

The witness was hiking down into high lake country when a strong bad odor caught attention. About 15 to 20 feet away at the tree line, an upright dark-haired creature stood looking at the witness. The creature turned and quickly left over a small hill into forest cover within seconds. The frightened witness left the area westward and has not returned.

The witness and a companion were cooling off in the river after camping. They noticed a hair-covered figure wading in a calm downstream area, watching the water. After the figure noticed them, it froze, stared, then moved to hide in bushes while continuing to watch. The pair left the area, later concluding the figure was not human.

The witness and a relative were waiting in dense brush while bugling for elk when they heard approaching knocking, rustling and vocal sounds and noticed a strong unpleasant odor. They left the hiding spot as crashing sounds followed them uphill. Other members of the hunting party later said they had seen a figure walking on the hill where the pair had not been. The group later returned to the site and found unusual scat.

The witness and a companion were on an early morning hike from a forest camp when they noticed a tall dark shape on a distant rock outcropping. After an accidental gunshot the shape was no longer on the rocks and was then seen walking away very fast with swinging arms. The two returned to camp and said little at the time.

The witness was riding horseback with a companion and a dog along a game trail when she noticed a dark figure foraging about 120 yards away. The figure stood upright and sprinted up a steep ridge on two legs while swinging its arms, and the dog chased it out of sight. The witness rode another trail to higher ground but could not follow through the timber, and the dog returned later tired. The companion did not see the creature.

While driving on US Highway 97 near sunset, the witness saw a very tall dark figure emerge from the treeline and cross both lanes in four strides without pausing. The figure moved briskly with swinging arms and a forward-leaning upper torso before disappearing into pines on the far side. The witness's companion was watching a hawk and did not see the figure, and the witness remained uncertain what it was.

The witness and an older brother were playing in a creek below a ghost town when a hairy human-like creature moved up the creek past them toward the woods. They ran to alert family members having a barbecue nearby, and the relatives then also saw the creature as it went into the trees.
