Late at night in June, the witness was driving south on a dark two-lane highway through swampland with three children asleep in the back. She saw a large hair-covered figure come up from a roadside canal, stand on two legs and cross in front of her car. She slowed to almost a stop and watched it at very close range as it turned toward her before walking into the canal, then woke the children to tell them.

The creature looked up at the witness, stood up slowly, and took a step toward the window. The frightened witness ran to another room and hid until a parent arrived.

The writer's brother was driving alone late at night on Skyball Mountain when he smelled a strong odor. He saw a large dark hair-covered figure in tall weeds beside the road that stepped onto the road and stared at him while he stopped and watched for a minute or more. The witness was driving a VW bus around a tight curve at night when the headlights illuminated a white-haired creature loping uphill on all fours toward the road. As it reached the road edge within feet of the vehicle, it stood upright on its hind legs. The witness drove past it, did not see it in the mirrors in the dark, and was frightened.

The witness woke upstairs at night after a neighbor's dog barked and looked out a window with siblings at a garden below. They described a large human-like entity covered in dark hair squatting and eating vegetables, which looked up with glowing eyes but showed no fear. After a relative fired a gun into the air, the entity stood, ran bipedally toward nearby woods and a river, and large human-like footprints were found in the garden the next morning.

After school the witness was playing in the backyard behind the home near woods and a lake when he noticed a dark hair-covered figure squatting by a tree and apparently watching him. Startled, he ran inside to tell his mother he had seen a gorilla, though he knew it was not actually a gorilla. When he looked back the figure was gone.

She twice saw an 8-foot hairy figure on the property, and four armed relatives fired from the roof as the figure ran past a barn and jumped a fence unaffected.

When it reached a flat spot it stood upright, turned with long arms, and walked bipedally to the treeline, and his father in orange nearby looked half its size.

At the bottom of the creekbed they looked toward the sounds and saw a roughly seven-foot-tall hair-covered figure whose face they could not discern. Both fled home in fear and said the figure did not follow them.

On the third night of a three-day series, the witness walked home across a field after dark and heard footsteps converging to intercept him, smelled a strong foul odor, and sensed something pass very close unseen. From his illuminated backyard he then saw a tall, dark-haired bipedal figure standing by a clothesline pole about 40-50 feet away, staring at him for about 20 seconds before he ran inside.

Witnesses described seeing a figure watching from a gully, hearing limbs breaking, finding livestock killed, and seeing a figure under a light and exiting a barn. Fear became so intense the father prepared to burn the house with the family inside rather than risk an attack.

The witness was driving slowly on a rural road at night to bring awards to a scout campout when a hair-covered biped stepped over a fence into the road. She stopped close to it, stepped out behind her car door, and watched it for about a minute under her headlights while noting red glowing eyes and a musky odor and feeling calm. The biped then crossed the road, stepped over the opposite fence, paused to look back, and strode toward trees out of sight.

In fall 1974 the witness and a relative stopped while driving back roads looking for deer and watched through a rifle scope from about a quarter-mile away. They described a large black creature pulling leaves from a branch over the road while two much smaller creatures played in puddles nearby. After watching several minutes they left over safety concerns, returning a week later to find the branch was over 11 feet high.

The witness was fishing with five other boys near a house on Rolland Road when a breaking-log sound drew attention to a large dark hairy biped crouching in the woods east of the road. The boys ran to the house, and about an hour later they saw a lighter-colored hairy biped in the field west of the road while crashing sounds continued in the woods.

They described an upright two-legged figure with broad shoulders, reddish-brown hair and a pointed head moving unhurriedly toward a ridge until it disappeared. After work they discussed the sighting and concluded it was a bigfoot.
