While working on the tire they heard approaching bipedal footsteps and a loud scream, then a rock and a log were thrown at the ambulance. They stayed inside while multiple creatures vocalized around them until a supervisor arrived about 45 minutes later.

He awoke to see a large dark face staring through the passenger window, its breath fogging the glass, which rose and grimaced as he reacted. He turned on all emergency and spot lights, watched a tall stooped wide-shouldered figure walk behind the cruiser and out of the light, then drove out and returned to find it gone.
