Looking toward the sound, the witness caught movement of something large and black moving away through thick brush. The witness could discern only size and color and considered it could have been a bear.

While fishing alone from a boat on Lake Arthur in the morning, the witness heard repeated wood knocks from the shoreline followed by rock clacking sounds from farther west. The alternating sequence continued for about 8-10 minutes until a passing boat caused the sounds to stop. Disturbed by the experience, the witness started the boat and moved to another part of the lake.

The witness was walking in the woods behind a former residence in the early afternoon when hearing a noise and seeing a large dark creature with ape-like and human-like facial features. The creature looked at the witness and then walked away, and the witness ran home. The witness also reported hearing an unfamiliar loud noise like an elephant.

Two people camping on family land went into a nearby apple orchard late at night to collect firewood. After hearing a distant screeching sound and then a loud scream, they saw a short, heavy creature about 50 yards away that charged toward them. They ran back to a clearing where the pursuit stopped, then put out their campfire and left for the night.

Late one morning in November 1988, the witness was preparing for deer hunting at the base of a steep wooded hill before dawn when he heard a noise in a nearby thicket. A very large, broad humanoid shape rose up and quickly ran across a clearing and up the steep hillside out of sight in seconds. The witness waited until daylight, then hunted from his stand the rest of the day, noting the woods were unusually quiet.

The witness was squirrel hunting while seated on a large rock near Clarion when a noise behind prompted observation. A large hairy animal about 6 to 7 feet tall moving upright was seen and watched walking about 200 yards until out of sight. The witness remained briefly out of fear, then ran home, insisting the animal was not a bear.

Three teenagers were camping by a fire near a pine grove on a farm property. They heard intermittent branch-breaking and movement approaching and receding, then a single loud inhuman scream. They fled to the house without seeing anything and reported no odor or sense of being followed.

The witness was scouting for turkeys in spring on the southern side of Jacks Mountain when turkey-like clucking from dense brush drew him closer. Each time he approached, a very low guttural growl came from the brush where nothing could be seen, stopping when he backed away while the clucking resumed. After two or three such approaches he left the area.

Later the children heard tapping and a voice mimicking their mother calling their names, after which the witness set traps and then used sulfur deterrents with his father's help, after which the activity stopped.

Two investigators made repeated nighttime visits to a closed metal bridge near another covered bridge. They reported loud knocks and bangs from under and around the bridge, unexplained lights in the woods and swamp, and being paced. They also described entering an intensely cold spot on the path where one felt drained, had to kneel, vomited while walking back, and felt sick the next day.

The witness and his pregnant wife were in the White Rock area of Michaux Forest in the afternoon. While he tapped a stick on a boulder, they heard heavy footsteps nearby followed by loud rock clacks from the ridge. After driving a short distance to another road, they heard an extremely loud roar from the ridge area and immediately fled home.
