The witness and a companion were in bed at a rented cabin late at night when their dogs became agitated and then unusually quiet. A companion heard heavy breathing just beside the front door in the dark and noticed a strong musky odor. After preparing a light, they found large wet footprints crossing the porch, and the dogs remained unsettled all night.

The witness and a companion were hiking in woods near a creek when they heard noises and noticed footprints with pieces of wood around them. The witness then saw a hairy ape-like figure about twenty yards away. Both individuals fled and returned home, where a family member did not believe them.

The witness was backpacking alone and set up camp above a ravine in the evening. After hearing rustling below, the witness used a flashlight and saw a tall dark-haired bipedal figure hiding behind trees about 40 feet away. The figure moved to another tree while being watched for 2-3 minutes, then ran down the creek out of sight. The witness remained by the fire until daylight and found no prints in the morning.

During the day they heard loud, repeated bird-like and chimp-like calls approaching to within a few dozen yards, accompanied by movement in the brush, which visibly unsettled one companion. That evening they heard whistling calls across the camp for about an hour, and after most fell asleep the awake brother heard someone approach from the creek side and stand at the camp edge breathing heavily before leaving.

Two friends were playing at a secluded campground by a river on a clear spring afternoon, shooting at a can floating downstream. After noticing sudden silence and a rising noise from across the river, they saw a tall hairy figure standing with one foot in the water and one on the bank. They stared at each other for several minutes, then the witness fired his rifle into the air and both fled by car.

While mushroom hunting with his mother the witness crossed a creek and found a single tiny human-like footprint in a wash. No other prints appeared after extended tracking, while crashing sounds moved away through woods, which he interpreted as something carrying off a young one.

Early one morning before a deer hunt, the witness heard something strike the metal fuel oil tank like a gong and move through the woods. He shone a light but saw nothing. Later he found no limbs or nut trees that could have fallen on the tank.
