The men heard a clicking sound from one side and a whoop-like reply from the other side, repeated for a minute or more, then heard something large run off like a horse. The dog remained frightened and watched the woods while leaving.

After catching a large trout late in the day far downriver, the witness climbed the gorge in darkness and tried to find the road through brush. A large unseen presence to his left breathed deeply, walked through vegetation rather than around it, and paced him, stopping and moving with him. He broke his pole, was struck by a whipped branch, reached the road, ran to camp, and later saw brushed-down vegetation where he emerged.

While hunting with a companion, the host heard what sounded like a horse running directly between them. Both looked but nothing was visible. He could not explain it except possibly as strangely bouncing sound.
