A couple camping alone in a state forestry heard large movements around camp all evening. Around 2 a.m. the husband saw a tall hair-covered biped beside their SUV and illuminated it before it ran past him over a gate into the woods. Later both heard knocks and rocks striking their tent for about an hour until a large rock tore the tent roof. Next morning they found partial prints and fresh bark damage before leaving.
Possible encounter experienced by a family while fishing at Prather Lake
The witness was fishing with two children and a dog at a remote lake when they heard a loud crash and tree-breaking sounds nearby. Over the next few hours they heard repeated rhythmic knocking, noticed a strong foul odor, and saw the dog become frightened and cling to them. They also noted many small snapped trees and worn foliage around the lake. They left in the afternoon feeling watched without ever seeing an animal.

The witness was canoeing alone on the river in the afternoon and had to pull out to drag the canoe around a log jam. He smelled a terrible odor and was paced by something unseen that stopped when he stopped, then heard screaming, breaking limbs, and saw a large log thrown and trees violently shaking. Three people were camped overnight in a valley when they heard a deep growl followed by a howl. They then heard large branches or trees snapping and being thrown toward camp, followed by sounds of a small animal in distress and then silence. Finally they heard something large running away through the woods, breaking branches and rustling leaves. They saw nothing in the darkness and could not identify the source.

A man walking in the woods to shoot his rifle reported smelling rot and then seeing a huge hunkered animal staring at him. After a few seconds of mutual staring, the man walked away and the animal bolted past him on two legs, breaking branches as it ran. The account was relayed secondhand by a friend who said the witness was frightened and stayed out of the woods for months.

The brothers were hunting deer from a blind with two younger companions when a shot deer could not be found. After splitting up to search a dense thicket at dusk, the group reunited and heard a loud sustained scream from close range at head height. They left quickly without acting afraid and were paralleled to their trucks by something noisy breaking branches. Both adult hunters later confirmed they heard it matching their pace.

The witness and three companions were coon hunting at night with three hounds along a logging road beside a swamp. The dogs yelped in fear and ran past the group back toward the truck. The group heard a deep growl and loud limb breaking and wood knocking moving toward them from the swamp, then left the woods and found the dogs shaking in their boxes on the truck.

After waiting about 45 minutes in the booth, the witness walked to the same spot and heard another scream from about 50 yards away, then stayed in the booth until daylight. A search of the immediate woods the next morning found nothing unusual.
