The witness went deer hunting before dawn on the Missouri side of the river after fresh snow. He found large human-like barefoot tracks in the snow and followed them a short distance. The trackway went along a field edge, backtracked inside the woods, and led to willow saplings with bark stripped off, then continued into thick brush toward the river. He did not see the trackmaker and stopped tracking to continue hunting.

During the night they were awakened by huffing, shuffling and prying sounds as something circled and probed the cabin walls. When the door was opened they saw only dark hairy legs in the darkness, a companion fired a rifle, and the creature screamed and fled with heavy thuds, leaving torn ground and indentations.

During summer 1965 the witness was exploring woods near military housing when he found very large barefoot prints in red clay leading into the trees. While on a trail he heard heavy bipedal footsteps that appeared to follow him, stopping when he stopped and rushing toward him, causing him to flee to the housing area. He returned with a friend and both heard the same following footsteps rush toward them before fleeing, with the friend reporting an indistinct large movement in the brush.

The witness, deer hunting at dawn from a ground position below a relative, watched a tall hair-covered biped step into a fire lane, pause and look toward the witness after hearing the witness speak, then cross and wait in brush before leaving downhill. The witness later found large barefoot-like tracks and noticed a strong foul odor at the crossing site. The witness did not shoot and initially told no one.

While rowing around an island they heard splashing and then found a line of very large, deep, human-like footprints in shallow mud where an animal had exited the water. On the descent the witness found very large bear-like tracks that appeared to have followed the ascent route and then joined the witness's trail. Frightened by the thought of being followed in winter conditions, the witness ran down the mountain and returned home without reporting the incident at the time.

The witness was playing in the front yard of a farm in the afternoon and saw a very tall, long-haired figure walking along the road and appearing to search the ditches. The witness screamed, and the mother and older sister came out and also saw it before driving toward it for a closer look. The figure ran under a bridge and into the woods and was lost from sight. The next day, large footprints were found in the road.

The creature stepped over a hog-pen fence and walked away to the west. Nine experienced student hikers camped on the slope of Dead Mountain during a certification trek and rushed out of their tent at night into severe cold in minimal clothing. Searchers later found the tent cut open with belongings inside and lines of footprints leading toward the woods. Five bodies were found between camp and forest and four more buried under deep snow in a ravine with severe fractures and missing soft tissue. Authorities attributed the deaths to an unknown compelling force and closed access to the area.

At about age 11, the witness was walking alone to a restaurant hangout around midday in winter when he noticed very large bare footprints with distinct toes in the snow of a vacant field. The prints formed a long stride and ran southwest across the entire field. He did not see the maker and did not report it at the time because of his young age.

The witness, then a teenager, was riding with his brother and a friend in an old pickup checking irrigation on his father's walnut ranch when they spotted a tall hairy biped moving through the orchard. They chased it by farm roads as it ran uphill diagonally across a 40-acre block, stopped to watch it pass close by, then followed it across more blocks until it crossed a road and disappeared into dense brush on a neighboring property. Afterwards they inspected its long strides in wet ground and decided not to tell his father for fear of losing their irrigation job.
