The witness was hiking with straggling students toward a mountain lake when they found a line of very large human-like barefoot prints crossing the trail at a right angle. The prints were documented with photographs and tape measurements, including one about 18 to 19 inches long with a 38-inch step to the next print. The investigator stated that bear, human, and hoax explanations were ruled out by visual examination and estimated a very heavy animal from depth and area.

They described it as very mobile and said it jumped a four-foot fence with ease, estimating its weight at 450 to 500 pounds. They reported finding footprints the next day but taking no photos because they had no camera.
