The witness was walking home on a road late at night when they noticed a man-like silhouette standing on a hill with its upper half visible above scrub brush. Both the witness and the figure fled in opposite directions. The night was bright and moonlit, and tree frogs were unusually quiet.

Two companions were pushing their bicycles up a steep driveway at night after visiting a neighbor. A large silhouette crossed the driveway entrance twice, then stopped at the top, looked at them and gave a short grunt. Three college students walked back to their dorms along railway tracks at night after buying snacks. Ahead of them a dark shape crossed the tracks and briefly blocked a distant streetlight. A short distance later they smelled a strong wet-dog odor and the reporter saw a tall creature at close range with shining eyes. The group fled to their dorm, later drove back for another look without approaching closely, and the reporter retrieved dropped groceries the next day.

Late at night the witness went outside to feed barking dogs and heard something moving through the adjacent cornfield. A tall silhouette about 75 feet away rose above the corn and stared at the witness for about 30 seconds before the witness ran inside and locked the doors. The next day the witness found scuff marks, a path through the corn, and stalks with missing corn but no clear prints.

A teenager and an older neighbor spent the night on a boat at a marina to catch suspected vandals. During the night the teenager saw a huge hair-covered figure crouched at an overturned trashcan scooping garbage, then stand upright and stare briefly. The figure stepped over the trashcan, sprang up an embankment, and disappeared into brush, leaving disturbed dew, strewn garbage, and broken brush.

He got out for a better look while puppies cried nearby, his sister joined him, then his father shouted for them to stop and the figure crossed the opening and thrashed away loudly. The next day they found puppies in the woods and knocked-down vegetation with limbs broken high up.

Shortly after high school the witness and his cousin camped beside a river after hauling kayaks and a towed canoe uphill. In the night the witness heard steps and a loud growl beside the tent and saw a large dark shadow in moonlight. Next day belongings were scattered, food was gone, and the heavy canoe was up in a tree.

The witness woke at night filled with fear and saw light blocked at the bedroom window as if a huge mountain-like mass stood outside. He hid under the sheets, then went toward his parents' room before returning to find nothing there. He kept the experience to himself at the time.
