At the truck they found river mud spattered on the vehicle with a strong foul odor.

The witness saw part of a very large wide-shouldered figure in moonlight with loud in-and-out breathing. They stayed still without using a light until the sounds receded, then moved camp and stayed awake until morning.

He waited in his stand on the phone with the witness until daylight, then heard something crash through the woods like a freight train moving away. He left immediately and later they found only a few broken branches.
