The witness and his wife were sitting by a campfire late at night drinking coffee when a strong sulfur-musty odor drifted into camp. A piece of wood then flew into camp and struck their trailer, and after the odor returned a rock was thrown into camp near them. The wife also heard distant screams that evening, and no other people were seen in the immediate area.

They shone flashlights across the river and saw an upright human-like creature bring down a dead tree into the river and move in the water. The witness and a companion were camped at Surprise Lake at dusk when they heard patterned knocks and rock-on-tree sounds. After the witness threw a rock against a tree and heard a similar sound returned, they saw a large brownish-red animal squatted and swaying behind a tree upslope. They attempted blurry photos while knocks were heard from behind the camp and from the animal's direction before leaving at first light.

Shortly after, a loud impact sounding like a stone hitting the metal guardrail was heard by both, followed by a second strike as she re-entered the vehicle.

Late in the evening the witness was sitting by an outdoor fire near a pasture when she noticed a head-and-shoulders outline above tall weeds to her side and heard a slight noise from that direction. She then saw a small limestone rock rolling nearby, which alarmed her because no natural cause was apparent, and she went inside. The next morning she found sticks, corn stalks and dirt clods in the driveway but nothing explaining the shape.

A couple camping alone in a state forestry heard large movements around camp all evening. Around 2 a.m. the husband saw a tall hair-covered biped beside their SUV and illuminated it before it ran past him over a gate into the woods. Later both heard knocks and rocks striking their tent for about an hour until a large rock tore the tent roof. Next morning they found partial prints and fresh bark damage before leaving.

Late at night the witness took the dog into the backyard overlooking a river and heard grunt-like vocalizations from the opposite bank. From the deck the witness heard something large moving through brush and keeping pace with them, then heard a loud crack, a large splash, wading steps, and a rock thrown across the river. The witness heard water dripping and shaking off fur and a strange snort before the animal moved away through underbrush. The next morning a previously intact rotten stump across the river was found split with half lying at the river's edge.

At dusk in 2012 the witness was sitting alone in a tree stand during archery season. He heard a loud scream from a nearby swamp, then heard heavy footsteps circling behind him where he could not see. An object was thrown through the trees over him and a stone struck the tree he was in, after which he yelled toward the sounds and left for his truck.

The witness and a helper played recorded calls in a research area. After each playback they heard an aggressive grunt in reply. After the last playback something threw a rock described as baseball-sized toward them.

The witness had recently moved to a ranch with family. While walking creek bottoms with a young child to reassure him, crows were vocalizing nearby. Several smooth palm-sized stones landed close by in a tight group, and the pair left quickly.

After resting by day the crew paddled at night back toward base. While shooting the shallow narrow pinch between two lakes a large boxy rock arced high and landed just in front of the lead canoe. The crew paddled to the middle of the lake, tied canoes together, and stayed on the water all night.
