The witness was driving home from work at night on a snow-covered highway when he noticed a tall figure on the shoulder. As he approached, the figure turned and crossed the road, passing within a few feet of the truck and allowing a close view in the headlights and through the passenger window. Scared and concerned about sliding on the ice, the witness did not stop and continued home.

Two people driving north at night reported a tall, black, human-like figure standing in the road. As their vehicle approached, the figure crossed from the east side to the west side very quickly, described as moving like a gorilla. The witnesses estimated its height at 7-8 feet and did not see its face.

The witness was driving home at night through a canyon pass when the headlights revealed a tall, big bipedal animal crossing the highway into a gully. The witness repositioned the vehicle to shine light into the gully but could not relocate it, hearing rocks rolling as it moved up. While standing in front of the truck the witness heard a very loud scream/roar described as gorilla-like but higher pitched, which prompted leaving the area immediately.
Motorist has nighttime sighting below Raton Pass
The witness was driving at night on I-25 over Raton Pass when he noticed a figure on the roadside. Immediately after his car passed, the figure stood upright and crossed the two-lane road behind the car in two to three long strides, seen in the rearview mirror. He described a very stocky figure about six and a half to seven feet tall with dark brown medium-length hair that appeared to flow with movement.

Late at night while driving on a dirt service road for utility work, the witness saw a tall, thin brown-haired creature step into the headlights and cross the road at an angle. The witness watched for about 15 seconds as it took a few long strides between juniper trees before disappearing. After driving away in fear, the witness returned the next day with a co-worker and found widely spaced footprints leading east.

The witness was driving south on Interstate 25 with his wife on Christmas Eve 1986 when both saw a tall, hairy figure run across the highway heading west. The driver pulled over to shine headlights toward it, but the figure had gone over an embankment and was not seen again.
