The witness was driving on an elevated two-lane road that was flooded when a large dark figure stepped in front of a highway sign and crossed the road in two steps. He flashed his bright lights, saw two reddish eyes glance toward him, then watched it drop down the steep bank. He stopped, got out, saw only a water trail across the pavement and heard splashing moving through the woods.

A huge hairy creature jumped a fence and stood in the road, forcing her to brake hard within about 15 to 20 feet. They stared at each other for about a minute before it left down a wooded hill and disappeared. She then drove home and told her mother, whose silent nod suggested prior knowledge.
