After several seconds of eye contact it dropped behind the stump, ran upright across the two-lane road in a few explosive steps, and disappeared down the hill.

At night they heard knocks and breaking sticks, saw green eyeshine uphill, and the co-witness saw a smaller black creature with red eyes moving between trees.
