Woman recalls scary night while at a Girl Scout campground in Bear Brook State Park
The witness was sleeping in a tent with other campers during a Girl Scout overnight stay when she was awakened by something pressing on the tent and making grunting sounds. After she scratched the tent fabric and made a loud sound herself, she felt something solid outside and heard a loud grunt or growl followed by crashing away through the underbrush. The other occupants screamed, camp leaders said everyone was accounted for, and an unrecognized funky odor was noticed.

During a multi-night backyard campout last summer, the guest heard bipedal walking in tall grass, pacing, rubbing on the tall tent, and a low continuous growl and dragging sound approaching her head. On another night the girls felt a hand drag over and push down the tent top before it jumped a retaining wall, leaving two foot-shaped impressions in clover leading to the woods.

Neighbors three doors down reported repeated night tapping on back windows about seven feet off the ground and footsteps across the deck with nothing seen. They also had large professional ladders go missing and later found in the swamp. They now light the property brightly at night.

After the family guard dog died, the household noticed an absence of bears, deer and other animals and a series of odd events. Large and strategic trees blocked paths to the creek, owl-like hoots and coyote-like sounds approached each other then turned violent, and something breathed, growled, scraped and slapped at windows, trailer and shed, mostly when the witness worked nights. The other dog became afraid to go out alone.
