The witness was hunting elk alone and had stopped on a stump for a snack when a very strong foul odor filled the area. He then noticed a very tall, dark-brown hair-covered biped standing about 50 yards away standing motionless. He glanced down to steady his rifle and when he looked back the creature was gone.

Both smelled a strong rotten-meat odor and then the witness saw a fur-covered bipedal figure about six feet tall run across the trail into the bush. The witness found a large bare footprint where it crossed and bipedal steps through deep powder snow. A parent who arrived later saw the remaining marks and told the witness the figure was a sasquatch.

The next morning he found a barbed-wire fence broken down with nails pulled out but found no tracks or hair.
